Hin Daeng & Hin Muang Diving From Koh Lanta: Tour Prices & Guide

Diver beside a soft-coral wall at Hin Daeng

Hin Daeng and Hin Muang: remote pinnacles in the Andaman Sea

Hin Daeng and Hin Muang are two of Thailand's most famous dive sites. Koh Lanta is the closest base to reach them. These remote underwater pinnacles rise from deep water far out in the Andaman Sea, covered in red and purple soft corals.

They're known for manta rays, the chance of a whale shark and big schools of fish. This guide covers exact trip prices from four Koh Lanta dive shops, park fees, certification rules and the best time to go.

Worth being upfront about three things: first, closure dates differ between dive shops. Phoenix Divers says Hin Daeng, Hin Muang and Koh Haa are closed from 15 May to 15 October. Lanta Diver says the marine park is closed to diving from 1 July to 31 August. Most shops only run trips from about mid-October to mid-May, so check before you plan. Second, the boat time varies by source. One shop says 60 to 75 minutes from its beach shop, while another says under 2 hours. Third, certification rules differ by shop. Some accept Open Water divers with extra conditions, while others require 30-metre certification.
